What are we to do with Emusic? : comments [Dreams on the Bitface]

You could try it anyway, I once clicked on an album before I noticed the "not available outside North America" bit and it worked anyway. I don't think it will work for all of them.

It is annoying, but personally I found there was still vast amounts of stuff I did want to download and could so it doesn't bother me that much.

I actually tried it before I saw the warning, and got a response saying, "that download is temporarily unavailable". It did give a contact email, so I may try that, just to see what they say.

I agree about the vast quantity, but I'm not quite sure it's vast enough to commit to the year. For example, a fair number of bands show downloads available, but they only have a track on a compilation.

Did you go for the twelve-month option or the three?

I went for the three, and while I downloaded like crazy at first, I have slacked off a lot and do still prefer to have the actual items. I've been using it to salve my conscience and download stuff I had on tape already.

I'm not sure I'll be renewing.

Well, as previously advertised, I think Emusic is magic, and they do pretty much "get it". I agree about Lazy Line Painter Jane though, that was where I first encountered the geographical barrier. Nick Cave too, alas. I suspect they'll work out where you are by your credit card, but I could be wrong. Open an American bank account and Jane could be yours, although there are easier ways. Not that you'd ever stoop to copying it off
